I could have sworn I left that book in my bag... Perfect, it's the beginning of the year, and I've already had some of my belongings nicked. It's not like anyone who might have taken it would be interested in it, anyway.
I'm not sure why I'm bothering with this. Perhaps out of the vague hope that someone might develop a conscience and return it? I already know that's not going to happen; if the book appears, it'll be found in the hall by some random passerby, and turned into a teacher, most likely damaged beyond use.
